Wesleyan Campus Community to Host Third Annual Turkey Trot

The Wellness Center at West Virginia Wesleyan College and the New Community Church is partnering with the Buckhannon community to hold its third annual Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, November 15 at 9 a.m.

Each year, the Turkey Trot provides a great opportunity to exercise with hundreds of Wesleyan and Buckhannon community members.

“The main goal of the Turkey Trot is to bring the Buckhannon community together,” stated Lauren Anderson, instructional programming coordinator at the Wellness Center.  “The Buckhannon community is crucial to the success of Wesleyan students, so the Wellness Center is always looking for ways to help our students engage with them.”

Anderson believes the new partnership with New Community Church will help bring in an even bigger crowd from years past.

“This year, we are partnering with New Community Church to help increase our presence in the community and bring as many people together as we can,” Anderson commented.  “We want everyone to come together to celebrate fitness, wellness, and fellowship.”

Participants will begin at the fountain on Wesleyan’s campus along Camden Avenue.  Pre-registration will be $15 for the general public (with a $50 family cap) and $10 for Wesleyan students, faculty, and staff.  Racers and walkers may pre-register until November 15.  There is a $20 entry fee on race day.  Pre-registration is highly encouraged and can be done by following the online registration links below or registering at the Wellness Center, located in the bottom of Jenkins Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Participants of any skill level are welcome.

Packet pick-up and race day registration will be held at the fountain.  In the case of rain, the event will be moved to the Benedum Campus Center located beside the fountain.  Awards will be given for the top three females and males and top runner in each age group.
