Degrees and Performance Areas

Degrees and Performance Areas

The department of music offers two degrees. The Bachelor of Music Education (BME) degree serves those who are preparing for the teaching profession, and the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree accommodates those wishing a liberal arts degree or wishing to emphasize a particular aspect of music such as performance or theory in their study.

There are a number of performance areas within the department of music, each serving the needs of students and forming the foundations of Wesleyan's music curricula. Choral music, vocal performance, wind band, keyboard studies, percussion, and jazz performance are among the various areas of performance at WV Wesleyan. Students from both the BME and BA cohorts participate in many of these areas simultaneously, and we encourage music students to explore multiple areas of performance.
