Devon McNamara teaches Shakespeare, Irish literature, creative writing, and humanities. Her poems, essays, reviews, and interviews have appeared in a number of publications, including The Christian Science Monitor. She leads cultural tours of Ireland and East Central Europe for Wesleyan students.

Richard Schmitt teaches creative writing, short fiction, and composition. Author of the acclaimed novel The Aerialist, he has published stories in a number of literary magazines. His work was included in New Stories from the South: The Year's Best. He is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant.

Jessie van Eerden teaches creative writing and composition. She is the author of the novel Glorybound(WordFarm, 2012). Her essays and short fiction have appeared in The Oxford American, River Teeth, Bellingham Review and other publications, and her prose has been included in Best American Spiritual Writing and Red Holler: An Anthology of Contemporary Appalachian Literature. Van Eerden is also the director of Wesleyan’s Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing Program.

Doug Van Gundy teaches creative writing, Appalachian literature, and humanities. His first book of poetry, A Life Above Water, was published in 2007, and his poems and essays have appeared in The Oxford American, Ecotone, and The Fretboard Journal. He is currently Director of the Honors Program.

Eric Waggoner teaches American literature, literary theory, and composition. As Departmental Coordinator, he directs the senior thesis program. He has written scholarly articles and film and music journalism for a variety of publications, including The Village Voice. Lynn M. Linder teaches British literature, gender studies, literary theory, and composition. She has published scholarly articles on nineteenth-century British literature and Irish gothic fiction. Her current book project, Gothic Traces, Sensational Selves: The Diary and Victorian Fiction, brings together her research interests in the English novel, gothic literature, and life-writing.

Debra Dean Murphy teaches courses in theology, ethics, liturgy, and church history. She is the author of Happiness, Health, and Beauty: The Christian Life in Everyday Terms (Cascade 2015) and Teaching that Transforms: Worship as the Heart of Christian Education (Brazos 2004). Her articles and essays have appeared in Modern Theology, Scottish Journal of Theology, Liturgy, and Cross Currents. Thomas Schoffler teaches acting, movement, musical theatre, drama for youth and dramaturgy. A professional actor and director, he has worked in New York City as well as regional theatres across the country. He is the director of the musical theatre program, and coordinator for the theatre & dance department.

Gregory Mach teaches advanced acting, directing, theatre history, stage makeup, voice and movement, and humanities. A professional actor, director, and playwright when he is not teaching, he has performed everything from Shakespeare to mime at numerous theatres throughout the southeastern United States and on television, and has directed extensively for the commercial, university and community stage, as well as international tours, for over thirty years. Selected by the Rotary International Foundation to represent higher education and the arts in West Virginia on a tour of Korea, Greg directs at least one show a year at WVWC and advises the acting/directing majors.
