WVWC adheres to the West Virginia law which prohibits:

  • Public consumption of alcohol (including in a vehicle)
  • Public intoxication
  • Furnishing alcohol to anyone under 21 years of age
  • Possession or consumption of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age

DRUGS
WVWC strictly prohibits the illegal possession, use and distribution of controlled substances. West Virginia code states that it is unlawful to manufacture, deliver or possess with the intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance.

SEXUAL ASSSAULT
WVWC will not tolerate rape, sexual assault, or other forms of nonconsensual sexual activity.
Victims of sexual assault are encouraged to file a complaint as soon as possible after the alleged incident and to preserve evidence for investigation purposes. The College's judicial system and the local police are both avenues for response, and the two can be undertaken concurrently.

For on-campus response to facilitate student services, and assistance with police referral if necessary, contact any of the following college staff:

  • Campus Security
  • Residence Life Coordinator/Director
  • Director of Counseling and Wellness Center
  • Vice President for Student Affairs
  • Dean of the Chapel

Violations as determined by the college judicial system will be subject to all sanctions contained in the Code of Conduct, including suspension, dismissal, loss of residence privileges, or required changes in academic and living situations. All procedural standards contained in the code will be followed for all parties involved, including the presence of advisors during disciplinary proceedings and necessary disclosure of judicial outcome information. Counseling services and educational programming for assault victims are provided through the Counseling and Wellness Center.

Safety and security educational programming is addressed in required residence hall meetings each semester, which cover policy and procedure, in addition to guidance about personal safety. Crime deterrence, assault prevention and self-defense programs are sponsored each year by the Student Affairs staff. Additional programming is provided by campus organizations on an as-needed basis. Sexual assault prevention programs are offered by agency resource persons and college staff during fall semester to all first year students.
